my usb drive did not have enough space so the backup and redtore option came up. It appears that i will need a new hard drive. If it is not recognized by BIOS then the only option that you can try is to reseat the hard drive. i used the computer for awhile after that, then put it in the bag to take home.

It sure sounds like a bad hard disk drive or a drive that is failing.
